im thinking about putting some air shocks in my ride, would that be safe for the car? if so what brand is ok to put on>?
The weight of the car is supported by the spring mounts. Putting on air shocks will transfer some of that load to the shock mounts. It is not designed for that. The upper one will be the one that will fail first.
No.. i just pulled a set of Gabriel airshocks (the previous owner put them on prior to 1993 when the car was last registered)off our project car today, guess what I found, broken driver side upper shock mount... oh well, nothing a that a grinder and mig couldn't fix
NOOO...Air shocks are baadd gree gree...dont do it!!!! get new leaf springs or have yourse re-arched...
I know it's probably getting redundant at this point, but... NO! The upper shock mount is pretty much supported by the floor pan. That thin metal can't support the weight transferred to it by air shocks.
