I'm not too far off (near Abilene), but I'm still using the 250 for a while (putting ducks together to rebuild and move the 302 from my 76 F100).
Rhonda I have a idea you jump In your pick up head east . Jamie you load the motor in your pick up head west meet Rhonda in Jackson Miss swap motor into each other pick ups have a cold beer and a good meal then head home . Jay Rhonda Make sure you check the crank and rod bearings before you start the engine after installing the new cam . Jay
thanks for the offer. Just drove to NC a week ago, just didn't know I needed the motor then :-( Interstate 20 is a VERY long drive, I think I hit everystate in the south, but I'm assuming Suwanee is in the way south of GA, near FL. Maybe there'll be something closer to me?? Rhonda
what part of N.C. did you visit? I'm from N.C. Swanee, is on the N.C./Ga. border... that's where Jamies Grandpa lives.. ......
Oldest son reinlisted and got orders to Ft Bragg, so I took the DIL and granddaughter out to Fayetteville. A very long drive with a 3yo! 18 hour drive, stayed one day, drove back on my own. Had to go to work, so couldn't stay. What really stinks is my brother lives in Virginia Beach, and I didn't have time to see him. Hubby just got a load to somewhere in Georgia. Hmmm, wonder if he has room for a motor somewhere in his truck. LOL He's brought home lots of different things, but never a motor. Peaches from GA, 2-week old dairy goats from Idaho (we're building a herd, got a good deal) and lots of other stuff. I'll ask him where in GA. Course, it may be a month before he's back through again, which is part of the reason I'm working on the car. I took this on as a gift to our daughter, the car I never had in High School. Make sense? Rhonda
I was stationed at Ft. Bragg and lived at home...Sanford, about 30 miles from Fayetteville... I'm going up to Moms in a few weeks. if there is anything i can do to help, let me know. ..."You can do it"... Frank, Effie and Patches....
you drove by about a half dozen of us, or more...20 is within 5-45 mins. of about 10 of us...including Jamie...
Thanks, ya'll have really been alot of help during this. I grew up helping brothers with their cars, but this is my first project car. Hopefully, there's a 200 sitting out there, needing a new home. I really don't want to change motor size, as it means more changes. I just feel more comfortable keeping the same one. This car is my teenage daughter's daily driver, so I need to get it right. She knows only how to add gas, oil, water, etc. Oh, and hand me tools. I make her stand there and help, it's her car, after all Rhonda
The MCG Gathering is in 2 weeks in Joplin, MO. Perhaps someone has an engine and can get it to Joplin that weekend. You could make the trip up from Texas and have a great weekend while you are there. The MCCI Roundup is the following weekend in Hannibal, MO a little further for you but will be a great time as well!
ok, going to a 250. Got the motor, cleaned out the engine bay, serviced the transmission. (much easier when it's out, instead of laying in the gravel) So, after changing the bellhousing and engine mounts, putting in a new tranny mount, all I need is a radiator, I guess? Wish the other one fit, because I'm running out of funds. Older son will be back out next weekend to help finish the change-out. The rental place was ever so happy to reserve the hoist for me again It was 104 on Saturday. Didn't work all day. Glad I have a canopy, but still got a whopper of a sunburn. Rhonda
