I've asked this before but got two different answers. I bought the man center link and man pitman arm, but the pieces of the puzzle do not fit. The new center link has a stud, but the idler and new pitman arm both have studs. The ps center link has a bushing were it mounted the the idler. Ive checked both part numbers and seem correct autokrafters pics match the parts i have. do i need to change idler arms? the open end on the center link does not fit ovet the idler arm.
my 76 comet has a stud on the center link but my 72 mav has a bushing. i think if you got a idler arm for a 76 you should be fine
there are 2 different types of idler arms https://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/archive/pictures/33494/150/1/P/47798280/idler_arm.jpg http://images1.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/archive/pictures/34177/150/1/P/47798280/idler_arm.jpg which do you need?
I have the first one but how thick is the hole in the second one, because the stud is longer than arm. the shank would still show if I were to pull the stud out of the center link
the second one does not go on a maverick it was just the first picture i could find that was close, sorry about that. i just put a new idler arm on my comet and it had the hole and bushing for the stud to go through. i was trying to find you a real picture and part number but my internet isn't working very well. but if you can find one for a 76 merc comet 250 inline 6 power steering it should but the one your looking for.
The pit arm? I bought a new one for man. and it is the same as the ps but with a stud. If i place the stud on teh center link through that hole(pitman arm old/ps) the studs too long and the other end wiht the hole will not fit over the idler arm stud.
