I bought a different trunk lid and when I bolt it on it sits too far to the right and hit the body when I close it. How do you adjust the trunk to the left or right?

A few years back I had the same problem on a car, it toke me a few hours to get it right... you should be able to loosen the bolts up enough to be able to move the trunk lid but not lose enough were it won't hold when you lift it up again and tighten it for good. Just keep studying it messing with it and you will get it right ;-)

Sometimes the latch also will interfere or cause a misalignment.
Remove the latch and follow the directions of the above.

Going by the paint marks will mostly not work with mismatched original parts.

I dont have the latch on, and I cant get the trunk to align at all, not even close. The hood is 1/4 too far to the passanger side with no gap at all on the right trunk line.

Why would adjusting anything work anyhow? the adjustments are only up and down and forward and back not for left to right.

You have to raise the trunk lid, then get on the side of the car that the trunk lid hangs over. Now push on the trunk lid.

Seriously.....this works. You will probably need to do it several times to get it fudged over a bit.
