just took probly the biggest step in getting her on the road, and any other cars i may get. got a call from stafflogix today about a job. if i get the job, i can afford parts instead of band-aid fixes.

Kyle, one additional thing to add to what all the other posters said---------don't ignore that negative battery cable where it is bolted to the block. I changed my starter (was marginal anyway), my solenoid (also marginal), and both battery cables. Still only cranked a few times and went down. Come to find out, even though it looked excellent, the block connection for the negative battery cable had rust on it. Sanded it, and now she flys when I hit the starter.

It took me a lot of grief and years to realize not to ignore the very simplest of things under the hood. My reaction used to always be, ah, it wouldn't be that. Well, it was always that.

Thanks, Jack. I never thought to check that. i've cleaned probly every connection between the starter and the battery. i never thought to look at the ground. I'll take it loose and clean it later and see what happens.

i wish i could put up a progress report here... or better yet a post saying its running, but to do so, id have to lie, and im too tired to lie right now other than lie down and sleeeeeeep. my new job is 6-6 night shifts in a plant that makes and packages babywipes. i've been up 12 hours a day the past 2 days putting tubs on a conveyor to be labled, taking them off the conveyor and stacking them on carts, and repeating over and over. its all i can do to keep up with the threads i'm really interested in on here before i go pass out. tomorrows my last day before i get my first day off, though, so i should be able to catch up then if im not so tired i sleep right through it. i will try to get up the gumption to get outside and work on the maverick. the only reason im working like this is because im just starting and need all the days i can get. i was supposed to start work tomorrow and work wednesday and that be it for this week, but i told them if someone called in i could fill in any other day. well the boss man called and i got me yesterday and today. workin with babywipes is more draining than you'd think. believe me. i just about fell asleep right there, i don't know how i've stayed up this long to type this. well, it's getting blurry, so i guess that's a sign i need to head to bed for the day. goodnight. im looking forward to having a real update tuesday hopefully.

    Welcome to the work world!

You'll get use to night shift... and possibly 12 hour days.
I'm at work 9 hours, 5 days a week on nights. It does take some getting used to

You need to talk to your parents however, as I told you I'd come work on the maverick and get it running for you

well, if i could get some free time that my parents wouldn't snatch up and make me babysit... turns out they wanna go to a concert and i'll have to watch the kids for em... this is the whole reason i got the job. to buy projects and parts, and so i could move out and force my parents to realize that they can watch their own kids once in a while, and they can pay me for it when i have to watch em. every time i bring it up though i get the "well you got a roof over your head and food to eat don't you?" reply. anyways. maybe they'll sleep in and miss the concert after all. at least i hope. and if they do i'll be workin on my car as soon as i get up. (maybe tomorrow? lol) I'll try to convince em to let me have someone over to work on the car. if not, the trailer im wanting to move into is gonna be vacant by the end of the month if it isn't already, and grandpa is considering not charging me and my cousin rent up there, so i could move out pretty quick and then i can do what i want. thanks for all your help so far. its just i got a lot happenin and then more stuff happens on top of it. (mostly parents and their last minute trips and such) oh well. sorry for the rant. i just got off work and was tub labeling for well over seven hours, and of course the rest of the twelve hours was filled as well with work. so im a bit tired and grumpy. but i feel better now. now im just sleepy.
