Well my ignition module just crapped out. Barely made it in the driveway then it just shut off. The module was so hot I couldnt touch it.
What year and model should I tell the parts supplier?
Its the good old factory grey box. 302.

I should think any DS I or II from a 302 truck/passenger car would work as long as it has the right pin count/configuration in the plug.Take the old one with you to the parts store...Good luck!!!

The blue connector ones are only about $30 from Autozone.

Thanx for the info guys. I found one on the carquest login we use at work. The blue module with 2 and 4 pin connectors is around 43 my cost. They have one in stock. The weblink they use is excellent. They take pics of every part listed. They open the package and take pics on a white background so the pic you view is the part you buy. They show the module and another pic of a close up of the connectors so I could match it up to mine.

After a PM and a phone call we managed to fix me up with a used module to try till I get a new one next week. I was around the corner from Larrys today at my in laws and not only did he have one he dropped it off for me at the mother in laws. Much appreciated. Nice to see him again we managed to shoot the crap about cars for a bit he also managed to put the bug in my ear about doing a 5 speed conversion. Oh no just as my list was getting smaller.:drive:

WOW!!!! Put on the ignition module that Larry supplied and the car fired up and ran smoother than it ever has. The engine didnt need to warm up as long before it will idle and just runs a ton smoother. The car has always had a slight flat spot off idle which I assumed was a carb issue with the transfer slots. Was planning on a rebuild at some point. The flat spot is gone, idle is up 200 rpm and I had to reset the idle mixture (leaner) and back off the idle speed. Who would have thought it was a module issue. Cant wait to give it a run to work tomorrow. I'm glad the module quit on Friday. See things happen for a reason. (y)

I'll second that. I've got some idle issues, and I'd love to swap out the module before I go tearing into the carb and see how it acts.
