Hey Darren if you go to the Waterdown swap meet this September there is a lady (one of the vendors) that sells them.

My favorite feature on 8 tracks were the odd break in a middle of a song then they'd flip tracks and the song continued on.

I wouldn't mind having a period correct stock in dash player mounted but wouldn't bother hooking it up.

Back when I was building my black EFI mav, I bought a non-running '79 Lincoln Versailles for the 9" rear. I stripped the rest of the car for parts and among the goodies was an electronically tuned AM/FM 8-track. I had never seen one quite like this before so I kept it. I still have it but don't know if it works. This thread has piqued my interest now. I might have to go hook it up to a power supply and see if it plays...

I still have the 8 track tape deck I used back in the day. It even has an FM stereo radio built in. Im sure it still works and I thought about installing it in my car more then once but I don't want to cut holes for speakers in an all orginal and perfect interior so I got used to the AM that is in both my Maverick and Mach 1. I have seen 8 track tape decks for sale at swap meets. Back in 1973 I had this tape deck in a '64 Fairlane 500. It was one of the best ones you could buy at the time. I installed 2 51/4" up front and 2 6X9 in the back. I also used a "slide in and out" bracket so you could take it out when you leave the car! It sounded great all my friends loved it. I even installed a couple in my friends cars! When I got my new Maverick Grabber in '74 it had a AM/FM stereo factory radio so I never used it again. 8 track tapes were begining to fade away and the cassette was all the rave!

Jack it up to the third hole on the lifting shackles and put some offset 245 wides in the rear. Also, reupholster those seats with some crushed velvet.

lol jk An 8 track would be 70's-awesome.

I have had an 8Track in almost every car I owned since 1971. I ordered my 1980 Mustang Turbo with an 8Track player. I still own the 8Track that I used from car to car in my early days. I later adapted it to a center console cup holder and was able to just sit it on the floor under the dash. i made it so it could be easily unpluged and taken in the house. This was in my 1964 Falcon, my 69 Camaro back in 1972 then a 67 Fairlane then a 63 Falcon. I then got another 67 Fairlane which this was in until the car was totaled. I was thinking of putting this in the Maverick but my car came with the optional floor console with the clock and I think Im gonna stick with the console if I can get the clock fixed. Here are some pictures of my 8Track its a little dusty but it still works good.
Oh yea its a quad system if any one remembers that gimmick ... LOL

How about a Reverb to go with it? I don't have one, but that is what we hooked up to have a stereo effect. In the late 60s.
