What is this hole for?

    Getting close to paint and doing some trial assembly to make sure everything still fits etc. I have these square holes at the back of both fenders up by the cowl/windshield and I don't remember what if anything they are there for.

    Probably something to do with how they made the fenders?

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    I have seen a plastic type busing that goes in that area....but not on all cars. You will be fine without it.

    Thanks, after I get everything lined up to make sure nothing has mysteriously moved since I took it apart 5 years ago I'll take apart again and paint. I just didn't want it painted and together and find out I needed to put something behind there
