Ok, the photoshopped 4 door turned 2 door pic in the gallery has been stuck in my head ever since I saw it.

Now I have a question about the actual bodies of the cars.

Are the windshield pillars the same angle on both body styles or is the 4 door version at less of an angle than the 2 door?

If not, are the crowns of the roof skins the same?

I'm not physically in a position to do the actual conversion to a real car at this point in time due to my ruined back. Now that I have seen where resin 1/25 scale 2 & 4 door bodies are available, I may try that route and would like to have it as accurate as possible.

Once I get back on my feet I might try the conversion on a real car if I get motivated enough. It's been a loooooooooooooooooooong while since I did that type of body work though!

Windsheilds are the same, so the rake and roof crown should be, too.

Cool, sounds like it shouldn't be too hard of a conversion on a scale model then...

Now if / when I decide to do it to a full size Comet / Maverick I'm not going to say that it's going to be easy! :D

Anyone else have some input on the subject?

I would love to do it to my 4 door Comet and then chop the top, but maybe I should just start looking for a 2 door 50 Merc if I want that sorta look(ha like one will even be anywhere near my price range...)

It would be a great looking conversion to do. The hardest part in my opinion would be finding a quarter window that would look right. I'll have to measure both my cars but I think the height of the door post is lower in the 2-door which would preclude you from using a front door from a 2-door car because the side window glass wouldn't be tall enough to fit the 4-door roofline. I'm not sure without measuring though. Actually you could use the door itself but the glass wouldn't fit and you'd be in the same boat with what to do for a quarter window. Still interesting to think about.

Man i would love to see a 4-door turned into a 2-door. I think it would look wild and you would have the only one.

Hmm... Well as far as I know, I'm sure quite a bit of cutting would have to be done! I would wanna cut those quarter windows to match the extended proportions of the doors and whatnot... Oh if only I had the tools and money!
