On Tuesday i got a call from Larry Winter about going for a cruise in his Maverick and my Comet. It was a spur of the moment sorta thing and we needed to discuss some (Maverick and Comet) business and needed to get away from the kids to do it. So i says, "O.K.". And off we went. We hit the 401 off to Cambridge Ontario to a cruise night that was being held there. Before we left i suggested to Larry that we should bring our cameras to take some pictures of our cars while they were driving on the 401 as after 16 years i still did not have any pictures of my Comet driving on a road with me in it or even driving at all. Sssssooooooo here they are......... After we took our ego pictures (yes you all can blame me as i just needed to see what my old beater looked like moving) , here is Larry at the lights about to turn into the cruise. with me in hot pursuit. We made it before it got dark and parked our mini- mini meet. The cruise in Cambridge was cool but the guy with the white Maverick that we had hoped to see there did not bring his car, he came in his daily driver. It was nice to see different cars than the usual ones i see all the time at the cruises around where i live. After the cruise Larry and myself went out to grab some Maverick burgers and discuss some future events. All in all it was a great night.
I'm already missing events like this. My car is safetied and it'll be leaving the corral this weekend. Sure wish I was closer to Seattle, I would have bought that $600 Grabber in a heartbeat.
Isnt that a nice grab for 600??? Gotta come get that hood. Been under the weather since last week. Nasty cold run through the house just in time for labor day weekend. Go figure. Oh yeah my mechanical fuel pump quit this weekend as well. Guess that expains my goofy fuel system issues past few weeks. Funny thing is I decided to ditch the electric pump and took it out then the mechanical quit the next week. Guess I should have kept the electric. Glad to see you guys got out for a nice cruise. I'm planning to hit the sept 20th show in Paris.
The hood and spoiler didn't go with the Comet. Take your time, it's not going to far. Take your time and get better and I can always deliver on a weekend. Just tell me where to come and find ya...
Ya see Zac you still got the Comet twitch, you will have another Maverick or Comet soon, oh yeah. How nice would my thread look if there was 3 or 4 Mavericks and Comet rollin' down the 401 and parked at the Cambridge cruise.
By the way the drive to Cambridge was great and traffic free....... ............. ................. But no hell coming back with a massive amount of traffic all the way home. And here is what we looked at most of the way back on the 401.
Yep that pretty much sums up the 401 end to end. Bumper to bumper. Too many nut jobs on that one for me. I'd be a nervous wreck in the Mav. Some Ahole in a Honda tried to race me on the 403 this morning. Good thing I ignored him. OPP just ahead in the median. I think Honda must hand out stupid pills with a purchase.
I like to ignore the knobs in their little plastic cars, i find it drives them crazy as they really want you and any of us to notice them and treat their cars as something special and not a big model kit with a engine .:16suspect
I dont even acknowledge them. Its like they arent even there. Had a guy in a truck honk at me on the way home tonight on hwy 2 at a stop light. Asked me what year. I said 72 he says damn I guessed 73. "nope slightly bigger bumpers on 73." Asked what powerplant, told him 302. He smiles and says must be fun in that light car. Yep the 4:11's help as well. Said bye and got on her off the light up into second for a nice chirp. Love my Mav.
See that's cool and the guy had interest in your Maverick. He asked a few questions and off you both went your separate ways......... or you can be at the lights and Mr. Plastic Honda pulls up reves his engine all the while staring at you trying to be cool and hoping you will notice him, i find this sad and lame. These clowns would get more respect if they tried option #1, maybe then you or i might say ,"Hey nice car, even if we don't really mean it. Now that's respect!
