    '72 Maverick, 347 c.i., w/ dual quads, TKO 600 5-speed transmission, back halved w/ 4-link, '16 F150, 5.0 Coyotte, regular cab, shortbed, lowered 3/5 & 1-owner '79 Trans Am.
I bought my first of four, a '71 Grabber Yellow car, in 1973 while in active duty training for the National Guard, trading in my '67 Galaxie 500 big block fastback. Upon getting it back home, my Dad, brother and I removed the 200 c.i. 6, 3-speed manual & rear and replaced it with a 302W, top-loader 4-speed and 4.11:1 posi 9" (the later two from a Boss 302). Later I built a 306 with a Speed-O-Motive balanced crank kit, a Crane Blazer 300 degree, .500" lift cam and 351W heads and swapped engines. At the time, my wife was driving a '73 Emberglow Cinnamon with tan vinyl interior 2 door Maverick. After those two departed our company I bought a red '70 but it was nothing like I wanted so I sold it and moved on to Ford trucks. When I got a modest financial windfall, I started looking at Mavericks again but everything I saw was either too expensive, much too rusty or needed a drivetrain. I wanted something that I can drive in the summer and modify in the winter. I thought I was working on buying a '73 Pinto with a V-8 4-speed drive train but it fell through. The next day I saw the ad for this car on RacingJunk and the rest is history. This car will slowly change into a Pro Street car with a 408 - 427 351 Windsor based dual quad engine, the 4-speed and 9" from my first Maverick with a roll cage and fat M/T tires. The knowledge and experiences that I've witnessed on this board for the last few years will help me a lot I'm sure. I've downloaded numerous pictures of someone's MII front end installation and others when someone tubbed and caged their yellow Maverick. You guys (and gals) have been the inspiration has kept my desire for another Maverick going - THANK YOU!

my dad had a 71 ,302 3spd manual, car just a few years before I was old enough to get my drivers license, it was going to be my first car , but it was sold by the time I got my license, my first (5) cars were 70-73 camaro's and then went to gto's but they got too pricey for a working guy, so a few years ago i got into mustangs then wanting to be different in a mob of mustangs it dawned on me to hunt for a nice maverick to build next, I took vacation from work and looked but couldn't find one...went back to work with out any luck finding one, my first day back at work my sisters husband called me and said he'd found me a car, seen it when i got off work ,took another vac day the next day and went and picked up the 71 I have now and with the help of everyone here have had fun with it ever scince...

My mom & dad had one when i was a teen. Me and my sister used to sneak it out when they where not home and would drive it up and down the alley. I liked that car alot. But one day the car got totaled. someone had left their kids in the car at a doctors office across the street where we lived. They knock the car out of gear and rolled across the street and "T BONE" the maverick in the drivers door. BUY BUY maverick:cry:.

I found my 73 Mav on cars.com in Bradenton, Fl. This older lady owned for yrs and had all the original paper work including the window sticker in a folder along with reciepts for work done. Something I found pretty neat was that the original owner had traded in an earlier maverick when he bought mine. He even spent extra on the sport mirrors. I have had it for about 5 yrs now. I remember getting interested in them after I realized that it was going to be very hard to find a nice 66 or 67 fairlane within my budget. I originally wanted one of those to throw a built 390 that I have. I found the mav for only 450 obo. I bought it for 400.

I fell into mavericks by hitching up with Timers. His story is better than mine. As a kid he knew the man that bought the car new(He special ordered it with the 302 in it) Timers used to wash it for free as a kid. The old man kept it till he died when his son inherited it who let it sit. Timers was friends with the son and it took many years to convince him to sell it. ONce he decided to sell it he had no id to get the title tranfered. The project fell to me to get him a state id. ( try getting 3 forms of id that don't require an id to pick up)
it took several months but we did it and the car was timers. When he gave him the car it came with the original window sticker and the gas cap that we can't use because the l ognhorns want to steal it on OU weekend.
