Got the motor in and running. It actually moves under it's own power. Clutch and tranny seem to be working well also. Yes, I am surprised, I did it all myself and it works!! :) I am having a vibration problem though....I am hoping a carb rebuild and checking my ignition will get rid of it...possibly valve train adjustments....I hope it is nothing major (just a little worried). Open headers sound so nice. :D

I see my old friend the buffing pad on that shock tower, how has your paint buffed out? Great looking motor.

Thanks, the paint buffed out pretty good. They burned though a couple of places and are re-shooting it tomorrow. I have to clean up the wiring still but I am happy with the way the engine compartment is turning out.

I am so worried about the motor being out of balance. This is the first motor I have ever not had balanced. I listened to the machinist who told me "dont worry about it" "If this motor wont see above 6000, you dont need it". I hope it doesnt come back to haunt me...Dont know if I will be able to sleep tonight. Wish me luck!:( (get your motors balanced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

For what its worth I have a 302 that has been together for 60,000 miles now(been in 2 different cars also) and it has seen 6,000 rpm ALOT of times. Its not balanced and it is doing fine. I DO believe it is best to have them balanced, but at the time I was having this one machined the machinist said the same thing yours did .And...I was on a tight budget from spending so much on the engine in the first place, so I skipped the balance job . Just thought this might help to set your mind at ease.

Thanks guys. I really hope the vibration is just a tuning thing. Its pretty bad..I wouldnt take it over 3000 rpms right now. Shakes the whole car. I am just worried. I will check things out good tomorrow and hope for the best. I realize that balancing is not required for what I am planning on doing with the car but it is always a good idea. I think I will be sick if I have to tear it apart again. Keep your fingers crossed and thanks again for all the inspiration.......

You'll have to do a write up and take some pics on how you did your Clutch Linkage not using Maverick V8 linkage parts .....
