Ummmm.... It doesn't sound like you're being "slowly" moved out of it, but actually was kicked out of it rather quickly! Point of advice? Go ahead and concede defeat, start the search for another project, and make sure it's NOT in running condition when she sees it so that your current Maverick doesn't acquire a "garage mate" that she can drive while you work on the current one. -Scott H.
yeh I knew it was bad right off the bat ,IE:when she huged it, but had hope she would lose intrest... I've been looking and gathering parts (for the next one) none have made it onto the current one as I feel it "is not" going to be the project I planned. I am glad she's into it and I like the car the way it is as well, a running driving fun car,250 6cyl,C-4 auto,A/C, P/S, has nice black interior and a decent body w/36,000 miles on it it don't need much. I have looked at a 1972 comet a few times (even before I got the maverick I have now) and its a V-8,auto W/floor shift and buckets,A/C,P/S, But its at a classic car place and they want too much for it ,the body is ok but they repainted it yellow and did a bad job (as it was copper/with tan interior)got over spray every place and didn't do any jamb or engine compartment work right, well I may be just too picky for a near 40 year old car, and being in the rust belt most around here are junk, I will though have to concede defeat on the maverick and look for another 69.5 to 72 maverick or comet (I like them both) good luck with the comet gt's they are great! I like following everyones projects along as well.
If it is the '72 Comet I've seen from Illinois it does seem to be priced a little high. I had looked at it online before finding my Maverick. My wife doesn't necessarily care about my car except that it makes me happy - and I don't change her '79 Trans Am! Bruce
Cool story, OP. my gf hates my cars and doesn't understand why they don't run.... that is a bad car very bad
