So, I went to Oreilly Auto today, and as I was asking if they had the w5w bulbs, the guy there told me that they no longer make them because they heat up a lot more than the incandescent bulbs and melt the plastic around them. I'm pretty sure that that's not true, but just to make sure, I have 2 questions: Do led's actually heat up or is that guy full of :bs:? And, do they still make LED bulbs that size?

W5W's are not LED's, they are regular bulbs that are higher wattage, and do produce more heat. I've had them in my car for several years though and never had a problem with any melting.

Not sure if this helps you or not but i just bought 168 bulbs they are 4.9v only .1 difference. They seem bright. Not sure on the leds.

Those look pretty neat. I have never seen them before. For the price I think I will get some. I like the first one better but the second looks like maybe brighter
Where in Garland are you? I'm there quite often.

Both of those are in Hong Kong . I'd be afraid I'd never get them, or there would be some customs charge added on to make them about $50! Like stated earlier, the truck stops and chrome shops have those in stock most of the time. I think they go for about $5 a pair.

My wife buys beads all the time from Hong Kong. I mean a lot. If there is ever a problem they bend over backwards to make it right. This is a big business for them. They want you to be happy. Moreso then anyone from the U.S. No other charges apply either.:)
