I made a little progress on the maverick over the past couple weeks . I fixed the rust around the shock towers and filled in all the extra holes in the engine bay then I found rust in the passenger side rocker where there wasn`t rust before so I gess its a good thing I already had plans on repainting the car any way . I also made a set of subframe connectors for it they an`t very pleasing to the eye but I think they will get the job done . Now I need to get the engine bay painted so I can get the stroker dropped in and get my rocker panel fixed.

    Looks good :thumbs2:

I need to fix the rust under the fenders like you did, mine has layers of rust(cant think of the word for it right now) all along both sides

Your shock tower area looks like my Comets. What did you do with the ebrake? Mine attaches to driver side sub frame just under the drivers seat right where your connector attaches.

Looks simple enough, maybe you could do a tech article with more details and photos (hint, hint :D).

Elliot, good to see a post from you. Looks like your project is moving along nicely. I think your subframe connectors will be just fine. Keep us updated on your progress.

How does the trans cross member come out?
it looks like the connector runs under it.
As weak my car is, I am thinking those would be a good idea, just for safety.

those subframe connectors are on the bottom of the frame rails and goto the out side of them. the trans crossmember location is infront of were the the connectors are ending and on the inside of the framerails.

Is it legal there to remove the e-brake? over here my car wont pass inspection without an operational e-brake, unless you have contacts

    contacts are always good. ;)

    connectors

your home made connectors are similar to mine. I took 1 1/4" box tubing and welded it to the back of my rockers. Then welded in 4 round 1 1/4" tubes to connect the rockers to the connectors. They already have pre-cut kits like this for 64/70 Mustangs. Maybe I over did it a little but I have a 460 in the car now, which is stock, but will be built in the future.

I know some people don't like to but I cut the floor to install mine. I put the new 1 1/4" box tubing inside the factory frame rails on both ends. Then I weld the floor to the new frame rails. You can't see them hanging down and it makes for a pretty strong frame. (y)
