throttle cable?

    my throttle cable is not working right it sticks when i floor it and im sure its because it has not been used in 35 years.can i lube it up i tried from the engine compartment but still the same sticking or does any one know where i can get a new one or good used one.

    Soak it good with PB Blaster, let it sit a while, then soak it again. Put a stiff return spring on, and work it a few times and it should loosen up. If not, Lokar makes a nice but expensive aftermarket cable, or Mean Maverick or Craig Selvey might have a used factory cable.

    thanks guys i think i will try the pb blaster.it does work a little but when i get to a certain point it sticks.so i will pull it out and soak it.or see if one of the guys on here have one.

    Once upon a time mine was sticking because the bracket that the gas pedal pivots on was worn.

    Look to see if your cable is starting to fray on the inside of the car.

    Also a throttle cabe out of a carburated 5.0 Mustang is nearly identical and will bolt right in.
