OK.. My Reverse lights dont work and my when i turn my head lights on the left signal light comes on, and my signal lights wont work i replaced the flasher but the hazards work....NOW the reason im mad is because everyone told me to check the grounds I HAVE CHECK EVERY GROUND ON THIS STUPID CAR took sandpaper to them and put them back on i have even replaced all the wiring for the reverse lights still nothing.
Im cursed.... I cant sell the car (at least for a anywhere near what i want to get) So i decided to finish the car and drive it cause i think it looks cool but no it wont pass safty till the signal and reverse lights work so for the past 2 months ive been checking every last ground replacing the wiring. I give up I think im just going to park on the street and see if can get even half of the money i have put into it
You might have a chaffed wire somewhere that is shorting the turn signal line to the light line. You can unplug the lights from the back half of the car down behind the drivers kick panel. Unplug them and see if the front turn still comes on. At least that should narrow it down. For the backup lights, did you check the fuse, switch, and bulbs?
unplug your turn signal switch..if problem goes away then switch is bad..had it happen to me, thats how I know..worth a shot
bad headlight switch??? I had a bad headlight switch on a 67 stang that seamed to control nearly every damn aspect of everything
Just run a new pair of wires from the reverse switch back to the lights. Trying a new light switch as mentioned is also a good idea.
did anyone mention to check all the ground connections? got to keep smiling. ...frank...:bananaman :bananaman
The reverse light switch is at the bottom of the steering column before it goes through the firewall, straddles the column...normally has a male/female plug for wiring...unplug it and stick a wire across the plug on both sides and see if the reverse lights come on...if they do its the switch...if not...it's wiring...the headlight switch is the thing you pull when you want to turn your lights on.
Ok i guess i should have know about the headlight switch but with the reverse switch is it the wires that go down the column from the steering wheel ?
I don't mean to add to your anger but you have to trouble shoot in more than a mechcanical way. The power to the back-up lite circuit comes through a switch from a power source. You must check this and follow the circuit back to the lamps with a test light or meter and be logical about what you do, other wise you get lucky and feel the way you do now. You have two faults that is confusing you.
I'm betting it's going to be the signal light switch that's bad. They can cause all kinds of problems when they go out.
