Are the water pump mounting points for the accessory brackets from the motors with the standard rotation pump with serpentine-type pulleys the same as for the old style pumps? I want to take the pulleys off of an 84 Lincoln with a 302, and I am not sure what to expect. I can take anything I want, but was wondering..

They are somewhat the same in that the brackets mount on studs not bolts in their original location but the thickness of the pump itself at those points are different and the pump mounts differently to the timing cover, you say you can take whatever you need so grab the timing cover, pump, studs, and brackets. Just use a early 4-bolt balancer and you'll be fine. I just replaced the stock setup on my '77 with the setup you describe in the last week so am familiar with what you are doing. As a matter of fact I am doing this to all of my earlier small block equipped cars and trucks. It's much cleaner and only one belt for everything. Only trouble I have found is that some timing covers don't have fuel pump mounting locations and most either aren't drilled for or don't have a boss for a front mounted dipstick. check to be sure you have both before you pull it.
