Given all the good reviews R&C is getting here, has anyone tried for an MCCI discount?

there are a couple coilover/mcphereson strut kits out there that will fit. you'll need to make up some form of "Monte Carlo" rally type support that goes from side to side to see a good improvement in handling

I have the R&C crossmember kit installed on my 70 Mav.
The only thing I didn't like was the shocks, springs, and the bigger rotors are verry cheap.
But it is a good start and got me rollin.

I also went with the big block and to get the steering to work it took 3 universal joints. Not quite the performance I expected.

I just bought a Mustang II crossmember from Clay at Full Tilt Street Rods

I bought the one that you have to finish welding yourself and it was designed for the early Falcon/Comet. I chose the version that takes the stock Mustang II coil springs, A- frames and shocks so it comes with the crossmember, the upper hats and 2 inside frame plates. The cost was 279.00 plus shipping, I believe. The version that is completely finish welded is another hundred bucks.

The early Comet crossmember is so close to the 26 1/2 inch inside frame measurement of the Maverick that it will work with only a slight shim. Clay has sold this crossmember to a half dozen Maverick owners now and has had no bad feedback of it not fitting.

Ful Tilt originally sent me a crossmember for an early Mustang, by mistake, and it was over an inch too wide. I called and they sent me out the right one and told me not to worry about sending the wrong one back.

so if you have different crossmember widths on these m2 kits, dont you need a different width for the rack and pinion. or do the crossmembers all retain the stock m2 controle arm locations and just make up for frame differences?

Those 2 different crossmembers kept the rack mounted in the same exact place. They were a little different just because the inside dimension of early Mustang frame rails is 1 inch wider than a Maverick.

Some of the older lead sleds were much wider but the rack still mounts in the same place. I know that they make longer rack tie rods and would make up the difference in that case.

So you're saying for around 379 bucks you can get a welded cross member ready to go in, that excepts the factory original Mustang II suspension parts? I'll be getting one of those very soon, if that's the case. Can you use the factory Maverick strut rods? Could you get some good pics of yours installed? I don't need or want any tubular "this", or coil over "that", I'd just like to have a pre-welded cross member that's ready go in and can accept the factory FORD designed suspension components.

Not welded in yet but here are a couple of photos of it all mocked up in place. Uses all stock Mustang II suspension parts. $379.95 + shipping for finished version. As I said in the previous post - this is the one built for the early Falcon/Comet, not an early Mustang.
