Went to barns and nobles today to look for a nice engine building book and stumbled upon the price guide for cars in 2010.

Suprizingly, the 73 comet is worth about 1000 dollars more than a 1973 maverick. Son of a gun!:naughty:

Didnt have a chance to look at other years but in great condition, a 1973 Maverick is worth around 5000 dollars.

    A 1971 maverick is worth around 7500 dollars:dancing:

Just figured i would share and make the comet guys feel happy.

I always thought the 71 was the maverick that would catch a collectors eye... But remember any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay... There is a bunch of cars on this site that would be a super good deal if you could buy them for $7500 bucks. Unless you are a pro with all the tools and talent, I don't think you could build one for what they are worth.... I mean to a concourse car that is perfect...

Very true. For years....those same books had 4-doors worth more than 2-doors.

I don't put much faith into those books.
Why would a 71 be worth more than a 72? just because of the engine horsepower?
Maybe Comets are worth more, since we've cut so many up as parts cars?:hmmm:

IMO 71 was a better year. There are many differences between 71 and 72 that many people dont know about. In 72 motors lost horsepower, seat belts were changed, doors changed with inside heavy steel crash supports, air cleaners were resdesigned smaller, smog equipment added, and more.

Also something people dont think about is that if your building a numbers matching car the older the car is the harder it is to build because you have less available parts. A 71 comet cant have 72-77 dated parts, which only leaves one years worth of parts.

I could honestly care less what some book says my car is worth. To me it is priceless.
