Finally got to take it out on the road after a long 2+ weeks and it run great! Although only took it to the gas station and now need help with how you fill the tank... I put the nozzle in but it kept shutting off from the splash back. Any tips:huh:...?

Gas pumps used to be slower "back in the day". I have never been able to fill mine wide open. Sorry I don't have a better answer here. ;)

I hold the nozzle sideways, parallel with the tailight, and just take it halfway. The tanks don't hold that much anyways.

Fill it slow or you might wear it on your shoes. I can fill mine no problem but less than half flow on the pump handle.

If im cafefull i can go almost full speed, you will get it eventually,it takes practice, eather that or switch the funnel to a later year, ALSO take off the rubber piece on the pump at the end of the nozzle.

I put the pump nozzle in and lift up and left to catch the lug on the nozzle. Then I hold pressure up on the hose to hold it. I fill mine on the first or second catch for the trigger. Fuel goes in until almost full. When it shuts off I have to hold the nozzle in the center of the fill pipe and go dead slow to get it to the full mark.

well went to fill today with a gas can and when i was pouring it after a while it starting leaking so i think my tank is full just gas gauge is broken... I thought it was working becasue it went up from about half a line under E and was reading 1/8 tank but after filling it last night with about 4 gallons then 2 today and the line not moving i feel that the tank should be pretty well full

After nearly 100k miles in mine, I've filled my tank a couple hundred times or more by now. Mine works best if I hold it between the 4 and 5 position or between the 7 and 8 position, depending on which side I pull up to the pump at. Then just get it in there as deep as possible, keep an upward pressure on it, and hold the lever about half way on. Old pumps must have had longer nozzles or something, seems the longer the nozzle, the faster I can fill it.

The only problem I really have is when going from driving this car to driving a newer car. I get so used to being able to just pull up to the pump on either side with this car, that I'll often times pull up on the wrong side of the pump in a newer car, and feel like a moron. :rofl2:

i do it like pauls. and sorta like Jamie.

I also leave the key on ACC and watch it from the back and I can get it to go in fast until almost full if I adjust the nozzle angle a bit.

Then I go to half throttle and listen to it. Just before it overflows, you will hear it in there starting to gurgle and bubble up just inside the tube. Then I pull it out halfway, and pull the rubber gasket back, and squirt it in 1/4 throttle until I see the bubbles at the top of the tube. But that is only if I want a FULL tank. Otherwise, I stop after I hear it.

It takes practice, and I think cars with higher rear-ends like mine might respond a little differently.
