I'd spend the money on a good set of heads/pistons and cam. 302s scoot with the right parts. Extra cubes means jack if you skimp out on heads. As far as the kit though, it looks like good stuff.

The kit is not much more than just buying a good set of pistons and rods. I figure the bottom end would be very strong. I plan to run about a .500 or so lift cam with gt40's and 1.7 roller rockers. The gt40's will later be upgraded to afr 185's

Yea, but the stock rods/crank are pretty tough. With good pistons(Ross makes good ones)I've seen stock bottom ends survive deep into the 6s w/250 hp shot. Good set of pistons, ARP rod bolts, a stud girdle, good machine work and your bottom end will live longer than the block will.

If you're going to buy it, buy the "master kit" that includes the rest of the parts you'll need to assemble it. Then have a reputable shop do the clearancing and balancing work. When I built my 331, I paid $1275 for the kit, balance job and block clearance work. The kit I bought included all that's listed in the "master kit" linked to in your link. I would also invest in a main girdle as well, especially for a 347.
