    ive got several theorys.
    1. the is not enough exhast back pressure for it to run right. you can usually correct for that by increasing the idle speed and richening the idle mixture.
    2. two spark plug wires are mixed up. recheck you fireing order.
    3. timing is significantly off. check and reset timeing.

I only have 2 vacuum hoses that actually have vacuum, distributor advance and automatic transmission. The vacuum hoses going to the air cleaner snorkel is for looks only because it looked like something suppose to be hooked up there.

well yeah, thats where those lines start...but where do they end? You said you had 2 separate lines...(1)Distributor Advance, and (2)Automatic Transmission...they need to lead somewhere :p

the vacuum advance goes to a ported vacuum source on the carb. thats where there is no vacuum at that port at idle, then when you open the throttle any little bit the port has manifold vacuum. the tran. modulater vacuum hose goes to a full time manifold vacuum source.

I agree with all of the above except #1, I suppose it is absolutely possible but have never personally seen/experience what is described in #1

i would check the choke, bump up the idle speed, check the timing, the plug wires and adjust the air fuel mixture by turning the air fuel screw all the way in until seated (gently) and then backing it out 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 turns and go from there.

Reset the firing order, which I hope is right

    http://www.mustangii.org/tech/engine/firing-order.shtml

I used the 250 firing order on this site...but my "1" on the distributor cap is where the "5" is on the 250 diagram, so I started off at "5" being "1" on the diagram.

Also (somewhat) hooked up the exhaust

Started it up and heres what I got

    #1 is always #1...
If the distributor is spun either way, to advance or retard the timing, then #1 could be anywhere.
