That's why we do it, for the enjoyment received from this hobby of ours. I don't even want to think how much money and time I have in my cars. Most are worth more than what I have in them, but that doesn't matter, because I have no intention to sell them. I will leave that up to my son, who I am sure will Ebay them all some day.

Dave's right. It costs just as much or more to restore one of these cars as it does a Mustang or other car that will give you a better return. So, do it for the love of it, not the return. Do it to suit yourself, not anyone else.

My sister got me a sweatshirt for Christmas that says "Still Plays With Cars". lol

My dad sold his '71 Comet for $14,000 in 2001. He had nowhere near that in it, since he did most of the work himself in our garage. What he couldn't do, like the paint and stuff, were "buddy deals" with people he knows. The guy who bought it had been bugging him for years about buying it. My dad finally threw out a price one day, figuring he'd never give that much for it. But sure enough, the guy came and got it.

Frank probably has spent more on his car then anyone else on this board, period. They greet him by name when he walks into Summit and wait on him hand and foot. :biglaugh:

I've gathered parts from 3 Grabbers to put on my '72 plain jane Comet. And I've got a 6cyl Maverick beater to drive while the Comet gets worked on (or waiting to anyway). So there.:p:biglaugh:. No joke though, I'm glad that both Mavericks AND Comets get used as parts cars for the higher end stuff- just means that our cars are still reasonably cheap/easy to find as long as you don't need disc brakes or 8" rears..:D

i have actually robbed a couple parts from my comet for the grabber (like chrome boomerangs) and plan to take some more parts off. however they are all cosmetic changes as i plan to "pretty" it up and make it a decent looking comet, then put it on the street. Unfortunately the sad reality is that our cars are becoming harder to find parts for in general no matter what they are :(

The only thing that Comets have over Mavericks are that they come first when arranged in alphabetical order...but that superiority is negated when you arrange them by Make. :p

The Comet joke is just that and not meant with offence. Not sure who started it but I'm guessing Dave was involved somehow.:)

Personally I would love to have a Comet around here. Its more of a rarity then my Maverick. I have yet to see or hear of another Maverick in my city of 500000 plus.
