When I was putting the 302 in my maverick it was basically stock so I put a performer rpm intake on it. I have decided to build a 347 for it as money allows. It will be 10.5-1 with afr 185's. I was wondering if this intake would work good with it. Its new and I really don't want to buy another intake.
It will be a drag car. I get a lot of enjoyment going down the track than I do driving on the street. Its a new intake that I saved to buy and now that the plan has changed I don't wanna buy a new one. lol
yup, it's a good street/strip manifold but it has a cutoff point on the top end hp.... but if u dont wanna buy a new one then dont worry about it
you can use a one inch spacer on the performer RPM "if hood clearance is not a problem". try the 4 hole spacer first and then a open spacer and see which performs better...
I am using a Performer RPM on my 347, havent got it in the car yet. When I had the motor built at Fordstrokers I ask if it would be sufficient and he recommended it for my application, custom cam was designed around using the intake as well, you are not going to spin a stock block past 6,500-6,800 and get any more out of it anyhow. If I was to change to a single plane intake I would go with the old school Torker 289, it doesnt give you much more in the top end but I have ran them on a couple different engines and like them.
rpm you answered your own question. you dont want to buy another. the rpm is good, the air gap far and above . and i do like the old school 289 torker if you want an open plenumn. ive used a victor and actually lost e.t when compared to torker. but i attribute that to the factory heads .tho ported still couldnt take advantage of vic.with the afrs tho you have an excellent head. good luck with what ever you use.
rember that the rpm range that the performer rpm is for a 302. the extra 47 cubes will move the power band for the intake mainfold down. i would expect it to start running out of power at about 6000 rpm.
