The maverick will be spinning both tires soon. My dad has a 8 inch rear with 4.62 gears and a spool in his tr7. It has set a while since we have other projects. I talked him out of the chunk a week ago or so and I took it out this morning. It was not fun doing it outside and 30 degrees. I plan on pulling the chunk out of my car later today and try and get the 4.62 geared chunk in the maverick and then my chunk back in the tr7. I can't wait to spin bith tires. I am building an 1/8 mile bracket car so I don't have to worryabout street manners. I know it can spin one 26x11.50 et street slick with an open rear and 3.00 gears so I am hoping I can spin both slicks with the gears.

I used to run a '77 Mav on a 1000ft strip in Va. using the 4:62 and minispool, and stock axles. Never broke it (about 400hp small block), and had a good 2yr run with the car. You'll like it!

we've been running 4.62's with welded spiders since 1982 with a 351 windsor. Still going strong :) lol.

I ran the mini spool on my 64 Fairlane with no problems. I was always worried that someone would tech the car closely as a mini spool is not supposed to be used for drag racing, and anytime you have a locked rear end you are supposed to be using aftermarket axles. Welded spiders are definitely a no no in Nhra racing.:)

good thing no one tears apart a rear end at tech, and we race IHRA anyway. Plus on a No E car that's been running at the same track since 1977 no one even looks at it anymore lol.

around here they could care less. At one track as long as you have a seatbelt your fine and the others require a helmet and cage at a certain et. I believe 7.99

4.62's and spool in mine, was built to race the 1/8 mile, you will be fine. Street driving isnt much fun, well yea it is, but not at 65 mph!!!

I am figuring 45-50 is tops on the street to keep from over revving

65 mph equals around 3800 rpms.
