Maverick Problems

How about new gas, as in drain out ALL of the old stuff?

 

I drained all the gas out and replaced it with shell premium gas

 

Timing is 180 degrees out...check it!

 

What carb does it have?

 

I have a carter afb carb

 

I PUT A HOLLEY CARB FROM A RUNNING MUSTANG ONTO THE MAVERICK AND IT STILL ISN'T RUNNING CORRECTLY... NO POWER, TIRES DON'T BURN RUBBER AND THERE STILL IS THE ENGINE SHAKE AT IDLE. I AM SERIOUSLY READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL AND GIVE UP.

 

did you do anything with egr valve???

 

Yes I changed the manifold to a edelbrock with no egr spacer

 

If it ran fine before the intake swap id be checking that alot closer,Did you have it checked for cracks ect? Have you used a vac guage on it?

 

Intake was replaced a second time with an edelbrock which I had bead blasted and magna fluxed to check for cracks

 

Your gonna have to go back to the basics Spark,Compression,Fuel...Give it a compression check with leak down you may have a valve problem..I wish i was closer to ya id give you a hand..

 

so you do or dont have an egr valve?

 

No egr valve or cats or any smog items

 

Burnt valve?

 

that's what i am thinking but im doing a compression test tomorrow if it doesn't rain
