i wonder if anyone has pictures of how to convert from assisted steering to manual steering. i have little knowledge of steering and would like to see how it is done. i have read much of what is available on this forum regarding this topic but would love to see exactly how it is done. if i have missed a thread on this topic, please link it to me. i thank you in advance.

i dont have pics of it but im in the process of doing that while im rebuilding the front end and repainting the engine and engine bay but you need the manual steering center link for the year car you have, a manual steering box with the manual pitman arm, and its a save bet to replace your tie rods while your at it since youll have it all apart

you can just remove the ram and power stearing pump and hoses. there will be some slop in the stearing wheel because of the slector vavle that is on the center link. the play will be about 1 to 3 inches of stearing wheel movement. you can replace the center link with manual one to get rid of that play. the ram is that thing that looks like a shock going from the frame rail to the center link.

You can keep the power steering box,and just swap out the pitman arm.The power box has a better steering lock to lock ratio than the non-power box. Also needed is a non power drag (center)link,inner/outer tie rod ends. Not sure on the idler arm, whether it will need swapped out or not.
