My 1977's engine only has 80,000 original miles on it, but I'm looking to move up while still not spending a whole lot of money. I was considering the Indy Mustangs 302 "Economy Build" which has: 302 economy Engine silv-o-lite pistons (.030) clevite 77 rod, main and cam bearings, crane blue racer (282/488) cam and lifters, dynagear double roller timing chain, oil pump with new pump drive, reground crank, bored and honed block mustang GT heads with new valve job. about 250 horse complete long block - $1095 Now, beyond this I know I would need: With all that, the engine should drop right in, correct? (save an intake and carb)
Just to be safe, I would also include a set of ARP rod bolts. If it is not going to be hammered on to hard, the stock ones will work.
You might want to check on some of the mustang sites for info on indy mustangs as this guy has screwed a lot of people. Never had any dealings with him myself so its just hearsay, but you might want to do some research first and maybe save yourself some grief and money.
You cannot use your stock 302 (before 1981) Balancer and flexplate...figure in a new harmonic balancer (50.oz) About $80.00 and a B+M flexplate 157 tooth 50 oz. balance about $105.00 from Summit.
after reading this: http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=297753 forget buying from indy mustang.
