I have a 1970 maverick 3.3 and when I hit the gas and the throttle cable comes of the firewall it is like the car grounds out. Am I missing a body ground or what? Also when I hook up new alternator wiring I get smoking wires from field wire. I would like to know how to convert to 3g alt one wire!!! thanks for any input.

Search the tech articles there are some threads on the alt conversion. As far as the other problem, I have no thoughts on that. It may have something to do w\ ur alt conversion. Was the car grounding out B4 u did the alt thing?

Check that you have tight grounds from the battery negative to a spot on the apron or frame rail (12 AWG minimum) and a heavy gauge wire (4 AWG minmum) to the engine block. Make sure all connections are clean and tight.
