Kinda stupid serpentine setup question...

    So derek, you just did what I did but with a ribbed belt? Just waterpump and alternator, using the alternator as a tensioner?

    dereks setup will use a standard rotation water pump and a groved water pump pully. svthauln's set up will work for you. perhaps he will even give you the part number of the belt he used. he routed the belt differently than stock calls for and it looks like it works beter that way.

    Is the water pump standard or reverse rotation?

    The one i have on now is standard, but the one I got with the serpentine setup is reverse, so I could go either way.

    It will be a while. I still have to wait for my new welder to come in, finish my trunk, or at least the fuel cell portion of it, before I can even run it again. Then the belt setup.

    I am only doing this to keep the alternator belt from walking off the pulley when I hit 6500+ rpms...

    Thats exactally ther reason i did it! My 64 Pick up let a v belt go at 6000 and left a nasty out dent in my hood.The water pump is standard rotation ant the top pulley is a 5.0 stang pulley with "NO" groves (doesnt slip at all been that way for 3 years.But on my 64 pick up i used a Grand Marquis pulley set up with a groved water pump pulley and it works just as well.Both use the alternator for adjustment

    Luckily for me, it seems to walk off the alternator and either drops out the bottom of the engine bay, or most of the time, is is hanging on either the water pump or the crank pulley. So I lost one once, and the rest of the time, it was in there just not where it belonged.

    No permanent damage ever.

    Hey, I LIKE that! Keeps it clean and simple, and I can add the A/C later when I am ready for it!!! :thumbs2:

    And best of all, the belt part number is showing crystal clear in that picture!
