I have a leak getting ready to put new tie rods in and upper ball joints lower still in good shape. thinking about converting to manual. what is involved and what does it cost. I have junk yard connections! with 2 mavs and two granada's. should i go with new parts. there is leaks in different places? maybe th fan blowing everything around. it has been on jack stands all winter! restoring it for my son! fresh interior now we are moving to the bottom! Pretty good leak!! i suspect several places! can rebuild control valve. Dad works in tool shop!!!!!
Would this be a straight bolt on or is welding needed. Order from Jeggs or Sumit?
any info would be greatly appreciated. My son is constantly reminding me, how many days until he gets his license! at 55 now. so running out of time

Just me, but I'd convert to manual. I used new parts (pitman arm and drag link) when I did mine. It wasn't cheap, but I wanted no leaks and didn't want to do it twice from using used parts.

I bet your hydraulic ram is leaking too. The outter boot usually is missing on these cars and if it isnt replaced dirt gets in the ram and it starts leaking, which is why everyone complains about the power steering systems. It can be a little expensive replacing everything. I just replaced everypart for just under 500$. It includes new pump, all new hoses, control valve, and hydraulic ram. Autozone seems to have the best prices.

I rebuilt mine, the entire system, with parts from National Parts Depot, it was pretty cheap.

I got mine redone for $150 dollars! If you drove the car with power assist, you won't like manual steering. These power assist systems work great with new parts and proper maintenance.:)
