So ,i need more braking power in Blue Thunder, befor i put my rear disk brakes in ,i was wondering if there is a two piston caliper available for our late model maverick or Granada -monarch front disk brake system ,or is there another system that can be used for more manual front brakes. Thanks for any info Jimmy:Handshake
You can run 2 piston Mustang calipers from late model mustangs with just a little modification. Somewhere on my computer is the instructions, or you can probably do a search on here and get them.
http://www.mustangsteve.com/cobrabrakes.html He has about the best brackets and setup I've seen. You can find the 13" Cobra rotors and calipers pretty cheap if you look around. Mach1 are also the same. I've got two sets of Cobra brakes one setup I picked up for $50 the other I got with a parts car. You should be able to find a set for under $150 at least.
Oh and if your running a manual setup like I am, I talked to some brake guru's and they say a M/C with a 7/8 in bore would work best to keep the correct line pressure and feel given the piston size on the dual piston setup and rear calipers. Im going to use a new Wilwood M/C.
i used the ones that scooper is talking about. they work great. make sure the brake bleeder screw is in good condition they are $75.00 ea. i will look for the website also.
Well folks being that racing season is very close and ive got money going in four different projects right now ,ive deceided after getting ideas from you all and doing some home work. Im going to do the front brakes with the 67 mustang 4 piston caliper setup ,all the parts are available cheap from my local parts dealer. Thanks Mike (Yellow75) for the tip on the brakets i need ,my parts store is ordering them in on Monday ,Thanks Chad (302-72-Mav ) for the great pics of your your 67 mustang 4 piston caliper system.:Handshake
I would be interested in seeing the pics of the 67 Mustang 4 piston caliper system. Could you post them? Thanks,
I did the late model Stang calipers on the Granada setup on my 66 mustang coupe. I used the attached drawing to make the brackets. I used 2" x 1/4" angle iron instead of welding the two pieces together as in the drawing. Should work the same on Maverick spindles. The calipers are 94 and up PBR two piston aluminum units.
seen these and thought of this thread... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WILW...ccessories?hash=item45f1b265af#ht_2441wt_1084
