Can somsone tell me the typical lifespan of glasspacks?? mine have been on the car for probably 20-30 years, i hear the fiberglass breaksdown and gets plugged.. So i was curious about the life span.

    Thanks!
    Chaz.

If they have been on there that long, I'd say you got your money's worth.....
Unless it's stainless or even the aluminized steel, most exhaust parts with the exception of cast iron manifolds don't last but maybe 10 years max, less if in a salt enviroment.

All the glasspaks I ever used lasted until they rusted through. As the fiberglass breaks down, they start to sound better...:D

Lifespan on a glasspack is 1 (one) backfire!

...Like wine and cougars, glasspacks improve with age.

Well, im noticing when i let off my exelerator, say after going 70 on the hwy, the engine feels like it cant breathe, maybe back pressure? Ive had several people tune it up and adjust the timing.. Had electronic igniton put on, but it seems like something is plugging up the engine (exhaust) even trying to do a steady 70mph, still has a SLIGHT holdback... thats why im going to change the glasspacks...

What do the Dyno Max bullet sound like??? I want a 70's sound, not a 90's hollow mustang exhaust sound.

    Chaz.

The bullet is basically a modern glasspack.....

The hollow sound usually comes from a chambered muffler like flowmasters or Turbo mufflers..... which were available from the factory on some 70's muscle cars.

glasspack's have very little back pressure and if they wore out im guessing they would have even less

Has the car always felt like that? Older cars don't free wheel like the newer overdrive and more fuel efficient cars do.

I Had a 70 mach1 and a 65 mustang convertible, that didnt do that when i let off the excellerator... But this car seems to have always done that, but ive only had it on the road for about 1 year...

That is the gearing that you are feeling. Newer cars have overdrive, and lower compression, so they slow the car less when you back off, although they usually have steeper gears in the back end.

I've never seen glasspacks plug up. Like others have said, older they get the louder or better they get! Depends on how you look at that,,,, The fiberglass burns/blows out the pipe, taking the sound deadener out of them. If they sound and look good,,, why spend your $$$?
