my 351w is at the machine shop. the crank is .10/.010 right now. he said it might clean up at .020/.020 but will probaly need .030/.030 which scares me. what is your opinion
If everything is done correctly,it'll be fine.whats the labor+new bearings vs. a new crank and bearings?
YEP! My orange drag car ran 10.30-40s had hundreds of runs on it,,,, .030 turned crank. 408 stroker I did change bottom end, for many reasons. But, like I said that combo had tons of runs on it.
Reman'd cranks with matching bearings are only like $179 or so at the local advance so i'd do some comparison shopping for the best route
I had another crank that was 10/10 and I took it to him. He miced it and said all it needed was polishing so I am using that crankshaft
http://www.crankshaftco.com/steel-crankshaft-hardening.html Some good reading here! OEM cranks look like hardness is 060-080. Should take a 030 grind ok. Best to talk to grinding man and follow his advice on hardening the crank or getting ok on it. Glad you worked out other crank an save you $$$$
