Hello everyone. I just joined the group today. I own a 1972 mercury comet. The stereo in it is burnt out but i have another one for it. I know which wires are for the speakers. The problem i came acrossed tho was which wires where hot and ground. two wires leave the unit but then connect to a plastic piece that then has four wires coming out of it. Can someone plz help me.

are you saying the wires leave the stereo? if this is accurate then there will be a red wire (switched power) yellow wire (consistent power) and a black wire (ground) if it is an old shaft style radio, (volume knob and tuning knob like an original maverick or comet) then it might not have a black wire or yellow wire but red will be the switched power. hope this helps.
