hi all, today on the way home my speedo quit working. i figured out that it came undone behind the cluster. reason being is the plastic retainer broke. my question is, what length is the speedo cable on a 71 with a c-4 automatic. originally a 250-6. now a 302. no cruise control. autozone shows it as 80" length. only 20$ for a new one. i wish i could just buy the retainer. nothing wrong with the cable. maybe someone on here has a spare?? just dont want to order wrong cable either. even if it is on $20. what can i say. I'm broke! but sure cant afford to be getting any tickets.:drive:

My retaining clip is broken too. I stuck the cable back into the speedometer and it works fine. It hasn't worked back out yet.

Mine worked back out just driving through town. Soon as I took off faster than a little old lady. Lol

I still have the original cable on mine so I don't guess it matters on the length so much. My car was a 250 auto and now a 302 with a T5. I had a 3spd in there for a while too. The cable always just fit. Check before you buy though, AZ usually only sells the inner cable without the housing or ends.
