Back when I still had my first Comet I had a link a while back to a site that sold disc conversion kits. I remember it did them both in the Granada and Mustang "styles" but the Mav/Comets used the Granada kits. I'm also looking for a rear end to convert to disc also while upping my gearing ratio a bit. (I doubt it'll be a racecar but a little extra umph would be grand!) I might be ablevto get them all used at a salvage yard but haven't a clue what specifics to look for. I realize this question has been asked a million times on these boards, but can you pretty please humor a girl for that million-and-oneth time? The Dude and I are working up a budget and any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you call him, He's very helpful and very knowledgable. Im sure He will recommend the Granada swap because replacement parts are so much cheaper ...
"SELECTION CONSIDERATIONS: This is a proven, reliable, simple kit that includes new high strength alloy steering knuckles with the large bearing spindles. It is ideal for 4 lug applications since the spindles are included. This kit is generably applicable to the entire 65-73 Mustang series. Because of its ease of install and low replacement parts cost, many 65-73 users would be wise to consider this kit over the SWAP.1 or SWAP.3 kits if originality is not an important consideration. Your original 14" wheels will not fit this conversion." This is Swap#2
Im just about ready to tackle the very same job. I was able to find a 1976 Maverick with a factory disc set up. I was able to get the whole setup for $50.00 and they removed em for me. Knuckes, rotors & calipers all assembled, with the steel lines intact and the proportioning valve. I will be replacing the rotors and caliper with new ones plus the bearings and seals but the point is if you look for them long enough they are out there.
