I am going to look at a 73 Maverick on Monday. I know it has a grabber hood. How can I tell if the actual car is a grabber and not just a grabber hood. I am very new to the maverick/comet sceen. I use to have a 71 4door, so I have always wanted a 70's 2door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the VIN 3rd and 4th numbers will be 93 if it's a real Grabber. 91 is a non Grabber 2 door.

If you are referring to the traditional Grabber hood with the inserts, this is a 71-72 hood only and someone must have put it on the 73. I believe the flat 73 Grabber hood only had the Grabber decal on the front of it.

thanks for the quick reply. Doesnt the grabber have a different grill or bucket seats or something distinguishable?

Hey didn't the 73 Grabbers still have the rear spoiler? You could check that if I am remembering this correctly.

Like Jamie said, 93 in the vin. All 73 Grabbers had the rear spoiler, and a flat hood, and could be either bench or bucket seats. Grabbers had black grills, with black headlight bezels, and the middle of the dash should be black (unless the car has orange interior)
But since the car is 37 years old, anything could have been done to it...
