Well after buying my Comet it was a completly gutted shell other than the suspention.I had pretty good idea that i could put it together but ran into a few mystry parts.Started looking for answers and found them here! Been here ever since.
Back in 04, I was looking for a Falcon or Fairlane to put a 302 in that I had in a 85 T Bird my oldest son had ragged out. My now late youngest son came home one day telling me he had found me a body, he called it a "Some kind of little Ford that the name started with a 'C' ". I racked my brain, couldn't think of any Ford car that had a name that started with a "C" except a Conture, and knew it wasn't that. So we got on the net and started looking at pics, and never did find one. We went that Sat and looked at the car, and it was a 74 Comet with a Mav Grabber hood. I bought the hood and the car came with it, lol. Car had some rust issues, but I thought I could just get some repop body panels like you could for a Mustang. I went online and started looking at Maverick/Comet sites. Found a "Maverick/Comet ring" that led me here. Also found out that there was nothing repoped for these cars except for quarter panels, and they were high. After many nights of reading and further inspection of my Comet, I decided it was too far gone and would be a parts car. Lucked up and bought a very nice 74 Maverick body from Clint Deal here on the board, and the rest as they say, is history......
Actually my Mom told me about this site a few weeks after I got my first Maverick. She must have done a search for something and came across a thread about whether or not a tooled leather interior was too much for a Mav. And it all began from there. I have often said that without this board I would be sitting in my yard, surrounded by parts, crying.
I got tired of being the only Mav guy around so i went huntin for THE OTHERS and yall are what i found. From whom i have met so far,a lot of nice people and friendly.
how i found this forum best friend has one and before i met him i had never heard of one and the more i saw the car the more i fell in love with it so i plan on finding one this summer and trying to build a nice little street car.
