Will it fit without modification. A mechanic friend says absolutely. I have my reservations. I have the 302 in it but that combo would be very unique. Very tempting. I can get a long block for $450.

It will require some modification to be installed in a Maverick.

Personally, I'd stick with the 302...

    ok..

What kind of modification? I think the 300 cube for cube is just as good as the 302. The placement of the ports on the head make it flow very well. I plan on a triple-duece set-up with tuned Weber carbs and the correct jets to keep it streetable. If I decide to do it.

It has been done before, I would use the search feature. The topic has come up before. I agree the 300 would be an interesting mod. One thing for sure, easy to change those sparkplugs. :)

I didn't find anything in the search...

The only I have gleaned so far is that I may have to redrill the motor mounts to set it up an inch forward or so. Does it hit the firewall in the stock location?

There is a guy at www.fordsix.com that has done it before , the 250 mounts might be a closer fit than the 302 mounts ?

Forget it...I'll do it later when....

My car is no longer requires smog in January. I need a car real bad since it doesn't run. I have two cars that don't run. Here's my new plan for now. Since gas is so damned expensive I will put in a 4L6 for now. Buy a working T-5 for dirt cheap. An adaptor plate and a centerforce clutch. I'm sure the rear-end is 3.0:1 at least. I have enough skill to drop in a new ring and pinion.I can get my driveshaft shortened for nothing 'round here. How's that sound. I know I have a v-8, but it's alot of work. Oh, and I will need to change over to manaul steering. So there. That to me is easier and there are parts for the conversion already made.
