I always thought a Mav or Comet gasser would be cool ... I like it, especially without the hood. It needs a blower or tunnel ram and maybe some exhaust cutouts that exit behind the front wheels.

...oops... I think my "inner redneck" is showing ...

No Captain, you are not showing your redneck you are right on track. I thought it would be cool to use a late model 4.6 DOHC and put old style looking fuel injection stacks on it. There are new chrome valve covers that are smoothed out and you can run individual plug wires so it looks like an old Hemi. I would run a hood but the stacks would have to be high enough to come through the hood.:D And long ladder bars that come up all the way to the back of the front seats. And chrome front springs, tube axel, ladder bars, rear end housing, etc.... Man I could dream alot about this car, because I have been, too bad I can't afford to build it.:D

Wow I just stumbled on this, I don't know how the forum feels about dregding up old threads but I had to respond....

I own the Maverick with the Shaker scoop and came across this thread searching to see if anyone started a thread for the Power Tour this year. I drove from Miinneapolis to Little Rock in 08 and did the long haul to Madison, and last year did Madison to Bristol long haul. These trips are so cool and you meet the neatest people along the way, like the Hahn brothers and others in Somerset Ky, ran into Chip and Alex numerous times on the trip. And yes Jack I am the guy you met in Des Moines at the Good Guys event and yes quite a bit was done to the car since then. I wish I could see the picture that you were using for comparison but it isn't showing up. Here is a picture of it with the hood closed.

So...anyone going on the Power Tour 2010?

    Power Tour 2010

    Hi again John:
I got a load of photos of you in Madison, Wisconsin and I had you also in the CAMEO newsletter the following month. I also believe I have some pictures of you and your Maverick with the shaker hood on my website in the events area . I feature each tour we make on there. Alex and I both are going this year also. I just finished a Comet and have about two thousand miles on it already. I'm breaking it in for the tour. The last time I seen you and your Maverick was in Kentucky while you were pulling into the stop. We were in the parking lot near the road. Anyway , its good to see your Maverick and you again. I hope to see you on the road this year . I'll be driving a Comet painted Sublime Green and Black , and Alex will be in the Blue Comet with the louvered hood. This year should really be a good one with all the neat stops they have planned. Especially in Chattanooga , Tennessee. Looking forward to seeing you again. I hope there are others that will meet with us along the way. There are a lot of people on this forum that live along the route that this Hot Rod tour will be taking. Hope to meet some of them.Meanwhile, Take care . :) (Chip )Cometized .

    Power Tour

    Hello Joe:
I was just remembering that Ray Parrish lives in Alabama also and I'd bet he'd be up for this tour , or at least a part of it when it comes through his area . Whadayathink ? ( Ray , are you out there ???-) I'm bringing my cameras AND my video cameras again to catch all this action. I think it would be great if FORD would be represented also , especially by the Maverick and Comet people. I remember when we were on the past Power Tours they actually stopped traffic in one State to take pictures of the Black 71 Grabber with people behind us blowing horns and they guy just kept taking photos . We had to drive "around" them .. It was a real experience. People out there just "love" these little cars. :) Cometized

I am really looking forward to this year's Power Tour trip and I hope to meet some of you Maverick/Comet owners alng the way.Chip I found those pictures on your website, thanks. I am sure I will run into you and Alex again. We travel with folks from Indiana and another guy from Alabama, all people we met in 2005 on the Power Tour. The Maverick is off to "body shop jail" to get painted. My car has 65xxx actual miles, 35k when I bought it in '02. Still has original paint and interior with NO rust. Paint is looking bad now so off to body shop it goes!

    Hi again John:
Are you going to keep the original color or change it ? I like it now. I'm looking forward to this years tour also. I plan to alert everyone I know from here to Iowa about the route we're taking so I could meet up with some folks along the way , both on the way to IOWA , and then the tour route itself. There are a LOT of folks out there along the way . Should be interesting. ( Got my camera and video all set for the trip) . See u on the road. :drive: Cometized

Chip it will still be orange but I never cared for the "Thanks Vermillion Red" that is on the car now. I just delivered it and we went through the paint chips; the color is going to be Viper Bright Orange. I wanted something with a bit more pop to it....

Never mind the date stamp in the picture, this is what the car looked like this morning.

    Hi John:
That color should absoloutly have the "pop" you're seeking. I like to be noticed also and bright modern colors are the way to go . Are you going to add a stripe, any graphics , or solid color ? Just curious. :) Cometized

I will leave the car a solid color and re-do the argent on the front; with the slotted wheels and shaker scoop it should be a good visual.
