Ok... so i fixed the valve body in the transmission, fixed the passing gear.. here's whats goin on... engine on car in reverse, push on the accelorator, takes a bit, then weels will spin for 5 sec, then slow to a stop, then spin for five secs, then slow to a stop... same with drive, 2, and 1.... HELP!!
I got a dumb question...did you re-check the fluid level before you made this post??? IF you did then I don't know what to tell you. If you didn't then....
lol yes, its a little low, but only a little.... when i replaced the transmission, i kept the old torque convertor... but it came with a slightly bigger one, should i have kept that one? i'm wondering if something like that would cause my current problems.. :/
IDK for sure on this but like i said before you should use the convertor that came with the trans or buy a new one for your trans! used convertor in used trans not a wise choice.
well, the transmission that i put into the car was old too... came out of a granada... here's the story, mav tranny went out, so i got a c4 tranny, bellhousing, and torque convertor from a guy who took it out of his granada, but i decided to use the smaller torque convertor and bell housing from my maverick, INSTEAD of the one that i got from the granada... i'm not sure if what i did was wrong... my symptoms: it seems as though the weels are "catching" when i push on the accelorater... even though its easier to go in reverse.... its still "catching"... :/
Maybe its time to call in a trans. guy local to you to see first hand. could save you a lot of time and aggrivation! just a thought from someone whos been there!
unfortunately, since i'm a college student, i dont have that kind of money... lol and besides! i bought the car so i could teach myself how to work on it!! so far its goin good. i now know more than most kids my age about older cars... lol just a little bump in the road.
got it dude and glad to hear you r willing to learn but im just sayin some one with expiriance could help you learn i understand lack of money (been there) i've got a c4 you could have if you were closer:Handshake
When you checked the fluid was the engine idling in Park? If not check it again while the engine is idling in Park. You also fill it that way. My concern is that you have installed a new valve body from a much later car on it - do you know the year of the Granada that the valve body came from?
IT WORKS!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! I switched valve body's from the old one into the newer one... thanks paul! WHOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!
