Anyone know, or can measure, if there's a difference in length between the frame-side z-bar pivots used in 6 cylinder and V8 applications? This would be the distance between the mounting holes and the stud.

Thirty-six years ago when I swapped from the original six banger to a V8 you couldn't find V8 frame stands, dealers couldn't get them and they were too new to find in junk yards. Instead I have been using taller '66 Mustang motor mounts bolted directly to the frame horns since then with the original 6 cylinder z-bar frame pivot bracket, aligning the engine block and frame z-bar pivots to locate the engine. This winter I decided to install the "correct" V8 frame and motor mounts. These moved my engine 1/2" forward and the z-bar is now at an angle instead of perpendicular to the engine and frame. So I'm wondering if there was a different length frame-side bracket used for the V8?

I've had both brackets and there is a difference. I cannot remember which is further forward though.

The V8 frame side is longer than the 170/200 I6. don't know about the 250 I6 as it uses the same bell housing as the V8.

Thanks, mine was from a 200. This would explain my problem.
