Hey Ray. Congrats on the article! You deserve the accolades.

That "fellow on a Maverick forum <with the hood>" mentioned in the article must be a swell guy! :)

I'm not sure how much time the body shop guy had in the hood either, but I'd guess it was safe to say that it was well over 30 hours. I hope the glass/steel bond is still holding up. If it gives you any trouble, maybe you can ask around for a good body shop man in your area. ;)

'Sounds like you're doing good there. Things are going okay over here in Malaysia too.

    See ya. :Handshake

Thanks Rick. I'm getting ready to freshen up the paint job and I'm considering having a mold made from the hood and making a complete one piece fiberglas one. There are just a couple of small stress cracks starting to show up but I'm sure I caused it when I was working on the hood. I had to do some serious work on the right side to make it line up with the fender lines. It was too flat and I had to bow it more. I was worried that it was going to seperate but it stayed together well. Very well built. The stress cracks are showing on the front and rear corners of that side. Should be no problem to repair on this freshen up but I think it would be cool to have a nice one piece light weight one. Never know...might even offer one or two for sale since we would have a mold.
    Thanks again! :Handshake

Congrats Ray! Really nice car. I was wondering what brand of base coat clear did you use? I think it looks great. Also what year did you did you get your center counsel from? I'm in the pro. of doing my car now. Its going slow, parts, money and time and it also my daily driver. When I see cars like yours I'm reinspired. High 10's in 1/4? And looks great too!

It presently has Dupont Chromabase on it. I have been experimenting with some PPG waterborne in my shop and may very well use it this next time. Will decide in the next week or so. The console is from a Granada. Pretty popular swap for a lot of the maverick guys. As for the 1/4 time I don't know where the writer got that info. The time I gave him was 6.97 in the 1/8 mile. I'm guessing he did some calculations on his own and came up with that. Personally I doubt the car will do that as is but I have no doubt it will go 11's. Good luck on your car...and thanks!

Great article Ray. I can say I knew him before he was famous.

Well deserved to. Not only is it a great car but a great guy also.

Ray, John Ford and I were in the parking lot in Owensboro, Ky. til about 3 A.M. trying to give Ruth directions to the hotel after she flew in to Louisville and then got lost.:biglaugh:

    Ray,

Congratulations!!! You and your car are well worthy of the article (y). You have done a great job with your car :thumbs2:. It deserves to be in a feature article in any magazine.
Good luck with the water borne paint job too! Let me know if you make a mold and offer these hoods up for sale :burnout:.

    Allen

Thanks Don and Allen. I gotta call my Fiberglas buddy and see what his schedule is looking like. He makes a ton of hoods around here. I'll keep ya posted Allen.
