i went to pick and pull this morning to look for a tranny for my comet because it's starting to die. i found a 83 cougar with a t5 in it and i was wondering what you guys thought i should do. this saturday they are having a half price sale and it is only going to cost me 45 bucks. it's hooked up to a 4 banger though so i want to know if the bell housing will match up to my 200 or not. and i would also like to know if any one has the clutch peadal assembly that i could purchase if i deciede to go though with the conversion. any advice would be great.

I'm not positive, but I think someone else asked the same question not too long ago. I don't personally know, but I think the general census was that the t5 wouldn't fit the belllhousing.

T5's have a longer input shaft and completely different bellhousing bolt pattern. Adaptor plates are readily available for small blocks so if you had a 250 it might work, but I never saw an adaptor for a 200. Check with some of the Mustang supply houses, they may have a line one something.

Actually the adapter plate will work because the same 3 speed was installed in all the cars. Were talking manual bell housings of course.
