hey guys, i am back in iraq.:tiphat:
i havent been active in a while, i was caught in a legal battle in texas..

anyway, i wanted to put a buick grand national turbo 6 in a maverick 2 years ago..i bought the engine and its been sitting in a crate since then.

i found a company who ports and polishes the "stock" head and intake and puts large valves in. i am about to send my engine parts to them. i found a 4.1l and wanna stroke it to 4.4l of pure raunchiness.
so, 4.4 l intercooler turbo, 200r4, carbon fiber grabber hood, rrs front suspension upgrade to coil overs, fiberglass fenders, doors and truck. this thing should be about 1800 lbs. race weight and have around 600 under the hood (if all goes right).
the grand nationals are pulling 11.35-11.40 @ 120 with 3800 lbs. and still getting 25 mpg. so, i wonder how fast itll be shaving a ton off of it.
im thinking 3500 stall, stage 1 shift kit and 3.55's.

i want to build the interior like the brazilian maverick gt (i forgot the members name, but i LOVE the 84 gt seats and console).

all i need to do, is buy my maverick now. =) (oh and come home).

or, maybe find someone who is selling one who wouldnt mind changing the interior around for me.. hmm

i am thinking line lock, trans brake, and ected locker for the rear (itll be limited slip until you flip the switch, then full locker). 3500 stall and shifting at 6 grand...i think it should be pretty descent.

anyway, tell me how fast you think it might run..:drive:

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Man that is an awesome idea! (y)

how fast will it be? that depends on the turbo and the tune.(along with the suspension setup, tires, etc...)

What snail do you plan to use?

well, the company i emailed will give reccomendations.
    what do u mean snail?

i am new to turbo's. i have the stock 3.8 GN turbo setup. i dont really know what it is. i have an article about building a 4.1 and they have a ta-49 on their 4.1 and they claim its like stock on a 3.8. they have 50# injectors and edelbrock cam. i dont think they are going to the level i am (not too much more than them..i still want reliability) and they dont list a hp. but he claims he has easily built them to 500hp at the crank. i believe him...

i wanna run 10.5 drag radials and an old skewl mustang spoiler front and rear with louvers.

i probably wont stroke it. i see people makin over 550 hp to the rear wheel with a 3.8. thats plenty..lol
besides, i have a steel crank already and h-beam rods. a 4.1 hair dryer on 21-25 lbs will do just fine.

    ooo a fellow desert rat!

i am south of baghdad in al kut (FOB Delta, small base off of tallil)
    u be safe too.

and i think i am giving up on the turbo maverick. i am throwing the turbo in my 68 cj5 instead.
i am building a boss 302 clone with the phat bore boss block and a 3.25 stroke.
i wanna paint it like a 340 challenger and watch folks get confused..lol

Got a GN drivetrain in my '96 S-10. At 3750#, it runs 12.00's @ 117. In a Mav body, it would be 11.30's easy!

its a hot air turbo setup. i dunno..i cant cant get away form the train of thought that a race car needs a v8 and must lope. i mean there is nothing like the sound of bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh while idling. the slower, the better..104 degree lsa cams totally rawk. thats neither a blower or turbo cam.but it makes one helluva bluh sound..=)hell, i might just build a cleveland instead. i am so undecided...but the turbo prolly goes in the jeep. give it fuel injection...and a lil sumptin sumptin to pass folks with.

RA-thats a helluva nice lookin maverick. sonic blue..nice.
i wanna pick up something like that. i would consider that white one for sale, but im not a windsor guy. if i am going to have 3" mains, i wil drop a 400 stroker in it and throw some good cleveland heads on and build a massive beast.
2.5" or 2.75"...i might consider an 8.7 block with the 3.55 stroker phat bore. thatll make up too a 390 small block. that mostly looks like a 302 to the casual observer. then i could put some nice plastic spacers inbetween the intake and head to keep it cooler. maybe paint them aluminum too..=)
who knows, but i think i am going to throw that gn motor in my jeep and start thinking up a bluh bluh bluh project.
