Got my box of summit goodies and i had ordered a Lokar transmission cable, i was kind of disapointed on how cheap it looked and seemed for 65 bucks. Guess it doesnt matter how it looks and feels, as long as it works:huh:

Pickups alot better but it doesnt really matter for this motor since its comming out tomorrow:rolleyes:

Wish the directions had more pictures, i got confused!

What do you mean it picksup a lot better?

Like if your going down the road and mash the gash it accelerates faster?

I've never ran a kickdown because I like manually shifting it down myself if it needs to be

yep, when i mash the gas, i have better acceleration now. My old stock linkage was getting caught up on the headers:hmmm:

Are you saying its better from a dead stop?
Because you should notice 0 difference

There are a number of reasons why the car may accelerate better now with the new cable. Line pressures in the transmission being regulated better so that the transmission dosen't slip as much, better shift points, etc.

If this is just a kickdown... I don't see what it would make a difference.

Now a cable for a AOD would be another story... right?

As far as I know the kickdown rod/cable only does one thing... shift it down from third to second when throttle is opened to a certain point

Someone want to educate me further on these?

The kick down also up's the fluid pressure in the transmission so that it dosen't slip as much, in addition to better shift points for hard acceleration vs. light cruising. All the linkage/cable does is actuate a valve in the valve body.

Hrm, never heard of this. Maybe because I never run them.

I figured it does nothing else than kickdown from 3/2 since it's not mandatory to use one.

Thanks for the information... I'll have to do some more research now

It's not rocket surgery..there is reason for them to come with one from the factory...... ( I liked Jamie's explanation) :)

There's also a reason they can be ran w/o them with absolutely zero problems.

And there's a reason it's called a kickdown road, as its main purpose is to kick it down... (And up until today I thought that was the only reason)

But thanks for trying to explain it Mr Rocket Surgeon :thumbs2:

Sure, you can run one without it, but it's not working to it's full potential without it, it's like a hamburger without the bun, sure it tastes good, but your not getting the full effect.
