I just got an email from Legendary Ford Magazine. In it, it was stated that this was it, no more magazine. A victim of changing times in print media, they tried hard to survive with no success. Dwindling advertising revenue, huge drop in subscribers, they finally threw in the towel. It is a shame, because for years, it was considered the best Ford magazine out there.

Farewell, and good luck to the Dates and Jeff Ford. Thanks for the hard work and great publications!

Here is the text of the email:

    Dear Valued Friends:

It is with extreme sadness that I write this final newsletter for Legendary Publishing Group. I had already completed this newsletter last week, (note the July 4th theme) outlining various ways we were trying to tread water in an ever increasing tsunami. It became apparent this week, that I would have to rewrite it and tell you that we are done. Over the past year, we have tried everything we could think of to stay in business and yet nothing has worked. Our attempt at continuing online temporarily has met with unfavorable results. Dwindling advertisers, non-existent new subscribers and lackluster support from car clubs has sealed our fate.

On your behalf, we have made arrangements with another publication, to take over your subscriptions, at no cost to you of course. Visit MustangMagazineOnline.com or contact Curt@PattersonPublishing.com for further information. Please accept our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

To the wonderful new friends we've met over the years, Colin and I thank you for allowing us to serve you these past 7 years. I'm sure Jeff Ford joins us in wishing you all well in all areas of your life. The three of us take much comfort in knowing our Lord and Savior has other plans for us and we look forward to finding out what they are. You will all continue to be in our prayers.

I am with Jim...it is with a sad heart that I have read this news. I will miss this publication. It was the ONLY magazine I read.

Curt Patterson has had a lot of growing pains with his magazine, which was started last year. I met Curt at our Mustang show and subscribed. I have only gotten a few issues to date. So, that magazine may be the next to fall.

Such a shame with print media today. With the popularity of the internet, circulation has plummeted on most newspapers and magazines. I worked for the Courier-Journal newspaper for over 20 years. Back then, it was a respected product and a much needed news source. Now, no one it seems to read newspapers. They get their news on TV or the Internet.

    Times, they are a changin'.

So, our 20 bucks didn't go far enough. I was always surprised at the lack of response to the forum.

I really wasn't. Take a magazine that caters to the "older" car person, and put it on the internet and expect people to $ubcribe, read, and participate in a forum. Very tough task. The tuner crowd, due to their ages, would love something like that, but not people who want to "hold" something in their hands.

I received the same email. I wish it could have survived. Wish the best for all at the magazine. I just didn't want to view it on line. It was one of the best Ford magazines out there.

I've never even seen a issue of it. Must have not had a big news stand distribution. I'm with Jim, most print media is having hard times now due to the internet. I haven't subscribed to a magazine since I let my Street Rodder run out in the 90's. And I think I might have bought maybe one or two mags off the news stand in the last three years.
