I don't know about the other guys building mod motor Mavs, but the engine has nothing to do with why my car isnt finished. I decided to do a few more things to mine, #1 being a whole new rear frame clip. I only want to build this car once and right.
If I ever want to swap a coyote engine in mine at least I know it would fit and I wouldnt have to do all that work again.

Wait till the electronic throttle shuts you down during hard acceleration. I have a feeling you guys wont be to wild on the Coyote then. These new vehicles detect so much as a hicup and the engine gets shut down. Its a nuisance.
Maybe they will offer a cable T.body for crate engines.
I work with ETC everyday and in my opinion they should all go back to a cable.

Yeah Ford fans to Fords dismay love to call the Mustangs and motors by their project code name i.e. Terminator Cobra. I have even heard the Shelby GT 500 referred to as the "Condor GT 500"
I think people use the Coyote name more to differentiate it from the old push rod 5.0.

You might have better than 31 since your car weighs about 700 LBS less.

I agree the new 3.7 six is an awesome piece. . . . However, nothing has the sound of a V8:tiphat:

fords motors are calle modular motors for a reason. their construction prosess make is so they are interchangeable. i belive that the v6 is alot like the v8s block construction just missing two cylinders. that means the technology used on it (direct fuel injection and the turbos) will probly end up on the v8s soon. imagine the power that will have.

Take a close look at the new 5.0 cylinder heads. They already have the bosses cast in for the direct injection injectors. Can't be too far behind.

Yep. Direct injection will increase the power too. The motor makes 435 HP now. I imagine it will turn around 450 or so with the DI system. GM and Chrysler are in trouble. :) they are about at the limit of what you can do with old pushrod motors as far as power combined with fuel economy and low emissions go. They can go to DI and maybe variable cam advance/retard but that's about it. Only one cam just cant compete with two.

I want the 5.0 for my Maverick and the 3.7 for my Pinto :)
